Ownership & ID Verification Policy

This policy explains why and how Kwik Buyback verifies customer identity and device ownership during buyback
transactions in Kuwait. These checks protect customers, reduce fraud, and help ensure devices are legitimately owned.

Important: Kwik Buyback is a buyback-only platform. We do not sell products on this website.


1) Who We Are

2) When Verification Is Required

We may request ID and ownership verification in the following cases:

  • All completed buyback handovers (store visit or doorstep pickup), or selected transactions based on risk checks.
  • High-value devices, new/sealed items, or bulk selling activity.
  • When device identifiers (IMEI/serial) require confirmation or there is a mismatch.
  • When the device condition, region/variant, or ownership indicators require additional validation.

3) What We Verify

Verification may include:

  • Customer identity: Civil ID details (as applicable).
  • Ownership confirmation: reasonable evidence that the seller owns/controls the device.
  • Device identifiers: IMEI/serial number matching (where applicable) and authenticity checks.
  • Lock status: confirmation that iCloud/Find My, Google/FRP, MDM, or other activation locks are removed.

4) What Documents or Evidence May Be Requested

Depending on the transaction, we may request one or more of the following:

  • Civil ID (original) for verification at the time of handover.
  • Civil ID photo captured during handover (see Section 6 on storage and deletion).
  • Purchase proof or ownership proof (avoid sharing unnecessary information where possible).
  • Basic confirmation that the seller can remove device locks and access the device settings.

5) Why We Collect This Information

We collect ID/ownership information to:

  • Prevent fraud and reduce the risk of buying lost or stolen devices.
  • Protect customers and the Operator against unlawful transactions.
  • Confirm the person handing over the device is authorized to sell it.
  • Meet operational, compliance, and dispute-resolution requirements.

6) Civil ID Photo Storage and Deletion

If a Civil ID photo is captured, it is stored in an access-controlled secure folder and used only
for buyback verification, fraud prevention, and transaction support.

  • Retention period: up to 60 days, then deleted.
  • Exception: if required by law or needed for a dispute/fraud investigation, we may retain it longer
    for that specific purpose, then delete it when no longer needed.
  • Access: limited to authorized staff/agents on a need-to-know basis.

7) Your Responsibilities

To complete a buyback transaction smoothly, you must:

  • Provide truthful information about your device and ownership.
  • Bring your Civil ID for store visits (or have it available during doorstep pickup if requested).
  • Remove all activation locks before handover (iCloud/Find My, Google/FRP, MDM, etc.).
  • Back up and erase your data before final handover (factory reset is strongly recommended).

8) Refusal or Inability to Verify

If you refuse to provide required verification or if we cannot reasonably confirm ownership/identity, we may reject
the device and cancel the transaction. This is for customer protection and fraud prevention.

9) Privacy

We handle ID/ownership information in line with our Privacy Policy. We do not sell customer data.
